For some of us, there is a lot of pressure throughout November and December. Not only reflection on what we’ve accomplished throughout the last year but what else can we cram into the last two months? Most importantly, are we going to set any goals for the new year? What are our new year resolution going to be? How are we going to set 2020 up for success as soon as January 1st hits!

Now in a business, this could be something quite simple, ‘we want to see an X% increase in revenue’ but for some, maybe you want to take it to the next level. Take an in depth look at the business from all angles and think about what you want your team to achieve, think about what some of their goals might look like, think about your business both in the detail and from a broader perspective. There may be policies or processes that need updating, team structure changes or even something smaller like consistencies in how birthdays are celebrated throughout the business.

Whatever it may be, we are excited to share with you our B.O.L.D. approach to setting 2020 up for success.

B – BE BOLD IN YOUR PREPARATION

When thinking about what 2020 is going to look like for you and your business, be BOLD. Don’t be afraid to think big. Think of 12 whole months, 52 weeks, 365 days. So much can be achieved in that time, the only thing stopping you is… YOU.

O – OVER COMMUNICATE

Communicate, communicate, communicate!

There is no such thing as communicating too much. Now, we’re not talking about ineffective communication where you’re having to repeat yourselves. We’re talking about the type of effective communication that all team, leaders and departments throughout your business are seeing and hearing the same message from several different avenues.

It pays to think big and outside of the box here too. You can communicate your business goals throughout a newsletter or even via email but how are you bringing them to life? Think BIG.

You’re not going to make it to your destination (goal of what success looks like in 2020) if you’ve got people headed down 14 different pathways. Communicate a clear path and stay on track.

L – LEAD FROM THE FRONT

If you need and want your team to be on the same page as you or even to the point where they’re living and breathing your goals and targets as much as you are, you need to lead from the front.

Leaders of a business or team throughout the business wanting to influence change and drive something new and positive, you must always lead from the front. Don’t be afraid to do things differently and stand out for all the right reasons.

D – DIVIDE AND CONQUER

This last step is critical to your success. Divide and conquer your targets / mission / goals so you’re not holding up the fort on your own. The saying is an oldie but a goodie – “Teamwork makes the dream work”.

By creating ‘champions’ for different areas throughout your business, you’re able to ensure that all areas of what your success looks like is being taken care of. That’s where you can drill down on some clear structure where monthly or quarterly meetings can keep up accountabilities and ensure you’re on track throughout your 12 months, 52 weeks and 365 days.
